How to cook asparagus
There are several ways to cook asparagus, and each method brings out different flavours and textures. Here are some popular ways to cook asparagus:
Steaming: This is a healthy and simple method of cooking asparagus. Simply fill a saucepan with a few inches of water and bring it to a boil. Place a steamer basket in the saucepan, add the asparagus, cover and steam for 3-5 minutes or until tender but still crisp.
Roasting: Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Place the asparagus in a single layer on a baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil. Season with salt and pepper, then roast for 10-15 minutes or until tender and lightly browned.
Grilling: Heat a grill to medium-high heat. Place the asparagus on the grill and cook for 5-7 minutes or until tender and lightly charred, turning occasionally.
Boiling: Boil a pot of salted water, add the asparagus and cook for 3-5 minutes or until tender. Drain and season with lemon juice and butter, or your preferred seasoning.
