How to cook beetroot

There are several ways to cook beetroot, including boiling, roasting, and grilling.

Boiling:

  1. Start by washing the beetroot and trimming off the leaves and stem.
  2. Place the beetroot in a pot and cover with water.
  3. Bring to a boil and then reduce the heat and simmer for 25-40 minutes or until the beetroot is tender.
  4. Once done, drain the water and let the beetroot cool before peeling and slicing or dicing.

Roasting:

  1. Start by preheating the oven to 180°C.
  2. Wash the beetroot and trim off the leaves and stem.
  3. Wrap the beetroot in foil and place on a baking tray.
  4. Roast for about 1 hour or until the beetroot is tender.
  5. Once done, let the beetroot cool before peeling and slicing or dicing.

Grilling:

  1. Start by washing the beetroot and trimming off the leaves and stem.
  2. Cut the beetroot into wedges.
  3. Brush with oil, season with salt and pepper, and grill over medium-high heat for 10-15 minutes or until tender, turning occasionally.

Note: You can also add additional seasonings or herbs to the beetroot before cooking for added flavour.
