How to cook carrots

There are many ways to cook carrots, here are a few popular methods:

  1. Boiling: Peel and chop the carrots into bite-size pieces. Boil them in a pot of salted water for 8-12 minutes or until they are fork-tender. Drain and serve with butter or a sprinkle of herbs.

  2. Steaming: Peel and chop the carrots into bite-size pieces. Place them in a steamer basket over boiling water and steam for 8-12 minutes or until they are fork-tender. Serve with butter or a sprinkle of herbs.

  3. Roasting: Peel and chop the carrots into bite-size pieces. Toss with olive oil, salt, pepper and any desired herbs or spices. Roast in a preheated oven at 425°F (220°C) for 20-25 minutes or until tender and slightly caramelised.

  4. Sautéing: Peel and chop the carrots into bite-size pieces. Sauté in a pan with butter or oil over medium-high heat for 5-7 minutes or until they are fork-tender. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  5. Glazing: Peel and chop the carrots into bite-size pieces. Toss with butter, sugar and a splash of water or stock. Cover and simmer until the liquid is reduced and the carrots are glazed.

  6. Grating: Peel the carrots and grate them to make a quick and easy slaw or to add to baked goods like muffins or cakes.

  7. Carrot Juice: Juice them to make a healthy and refreshing drink.

Note: Cooking times may vary depending on the size and thickness of the carrots. Always check for doneness by piercing them with a fork, they should be tender but still have a bit of bite.
