How to store avocado

To store an avocado, keep it at room temperature until it is ripe. Once ripe, it can be stored in the refrigerator to slow down further ripening. If you need to speed up the ripening process, you can place the avocado in a paper bag with an apple or banana, as these fruits give off ethylene gas, which can help the avocado ripen faster.

To check if an avocado is ripe, gently press the avocado near the stem end. If it gives slightly, it's ready to eat. If you want to store avocado after it's been cut, it is best to keep the pit in the avocado to prevent it from turning brown and cover the avocado with plastic wrap or foil.
