How to store peaches

The best way to store peaches is to keep them at room temperature until they are fully ripe, and then transfer them to the refrigerator. Here are a few tips on how to store peaches properly:

  1. Ripe peaches: Peaches that are fully ripe can be stored in the refrigerator for a few days. They should be kept in the refrigerator's main compartment, rather than the crisper, which can cause them to ripen too quickly.

  2. Unripe peaches: Peaches that are not yet ripe should be left at room temperature until they reach the desired level of ripeness. This can take anywhere from a few days to a week, depending on the variety of peach and the temperature of the room.

  3. Cut peaches: Peaches that have been cut should be wrapped in plastic wrap and stored in the refrigerator. They will last for a couple of days.

  4. Bruised peaches: Peaches that have been bruised should be used as soon as possible, as they will not last as long as unblemished fruit.

  5. Avoid Ethylene: Peaches should be stored away from ethylene-producing fruits, such as apples, bananas, and avocados, as the ethylene gas can cause them to ripen too quickly.

  6. Check for ripeness: Peaches that are not fully ripe can be left at room temperature for a few days to reach the desired level of ripeness, but it's important to check them regularly and remove any that have begun to spoil.

By following these tips, you can help your peaches stay fresh and ripe for as long as possible, allowing you to enjoy them at their best.
