When are peppers in season?
Peppers, also known as bell peppers or sweet peppers, are typically in season in the UK from late spring to early autumn, the peak season is usually during the summer months, from June to September. However, peppers are also grown in greenhouses, which allows them to be harvested throughout the year.
The specific harvest time for peppers can vary depending on the weather and growing conditions, and depending on the variety of pepper. For example, early-season varieties of peppers will be ready for harvest earlier than the late-season varieties.
In the UK, peppers come in different varieties of colours, such as red, green, yellow and orange. The colour of the pepper does not affect its taste or nutritional value, but it does affect the degree of ripeness, for example, red peppers are riper and sweeter than green peppers.
