How to store kale
The best way to store kale is to keep it in the refrigerator. To store kale, it's best to remove any rubber bands or twist ties, wash the leaves thoroughly and dry them. Then wrap the dried leaves in a paper towel, and place them in a plastic bag or container with a lid. The paper towel will help to absorb any excess moisture and keep the leaves fresh. Kale can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
Another way to store kale is to blanch it first. Blanching is a process of boiling the kale for 1-2 minutes and then immediately immersing it in an ice water bath to stop the cooking process. After that, the kale can be packed in airtight containers or bags and kept in the freezer for up to 8 months.
It's worth noting that the texture of kale will change after freezing, it will be less crisp and more tender, it's great to use it in soups, stews, or smoothies.
It's important to check kale regularly and remove any leaves that show signs of spoilage such as browning, wilting, or sliminess as they can affect the taste and texture of the rest of the kale.
